Darren Jones was born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1974. He studied at Stevenson College, Edinburgh and completed his undergraduate degree at Central Saint Martin’s in London in 1997. During this period he also visited the US for the first time, studying at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
After setting up his studio in the East End of London he became one of the founding members of the artist's collective Shopfloor with whom he exhibited regularly and became active in the Hackney art scene.  His first solo show took place in Edinburgh in 2004, entitled ‘Iconoclasm’ and subsequently he exhibited throughout the UK. In 2006 he relocated to New York City to complete his MFA at Hunter College. 
Darren’s work has been shown recently at Queens Museum of Art, NY; Athens Institute of Contemporary Art, GA; Samuel Dorsey Museum of Art, NY; Wayne County Historical Society Museum, PA, ABC No Rio, New York, Trinity Museum, New York and the Museum of the National Library of Spain, Madrid.

He is the founder and curator for the St. George’s Church Artist Residency Program in New York, chairman of the ACE exhibitions committee for Hunter College and a director and curator for the New York based Phenomena Project. He was recently awarded the Scottish International Education Trust Grant for Artists and continues to exhibit in Europe and the US.
